Samsung just announced a collab with Supreme that had Hypebeasts ready to toss their iPhones. The real story though is much more interesting.

It turns out that the collab is with a legal knockoff Supreme brand based in Italy, with rights to distribute in China. Supreme NYC released this statement this morning:

Supreme is not working with Samsung, opening a flagship location in Beijing or participating in a Mercedes-Benz runway show. These claims are blatantly false and propagated by a counterfeit organization.

There is some irony to this as the brand has been involved in multiple lawsuits, and the original Supreme box logo was inspired by the works of the artist Barbara Kruger. Who is not a fan.

Kruger on a past lawsuit involving Supreme and Married to the Mob:

‘What a ridiculous clusterf*** of totally uncool jokers. I make my work about this kind of sadly foolish farce. I’m waiting for all of them to sue me for copyright infringement.”
-Barbara Kruger

International copyright law can be tricky to say the least, but valued at 1 Billion dollars, we expect Supreme not to take this lightly.
